Case Studies
Case Study #1
The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) -
ASTA is a not-for-profit membership organization representing over 20,000 travel
professionals around the world. In addition to lobbying for travelers and
travel professionals' rights and providing industry information ASTA also maintains an education
division.
Through a special partnership with ASTA, Education Systems created
five internet delivered courses based on the ASTA Travel Specialist correspondence
courses. The original courses were written by subject matter experts in various
fields within the travel industry.
The internet delivered courses, created by Education Systems, expanded the
correspondence courses to include instructor and student interaction as well
as monitored accountability for assignments and exams. The courses are now more
easily available to both members of ASTA and non-ASTA members around the world,
increasing their client reach. ASTA contracted with Education Systems
to provide instructors for their students who interact with students, grade
assignments and answer questions.
Students have access to the complete course material online. Students may receive a
certificate of completion upon successful completion of the course.
Through its secure server Education Systems allows students to purchase the courses,
as well as optional supplemental information online,
and forwards proceeds on to ASTA each month.
Case Study #2
The Travel School
Ms. Anne Brobyn, former director and owner of The Travel School in Toronto, Ontario, is considered an
expert in tour guiding. She has written a series of text books on effective tour guiding
that include planning, marketing/selling and escorting tours.
Education Systems assisted Ms. Brobyn in creating two exciting Web-Based courses from her existing
material. The Travel School staff act as the
instructors for these students, grading exams, answering questions and interacting through
discussion boards.
Students around the world may now learn the requirements and skills necessary to become
successful tour guides from their own computers for a fraction of the cost.
